How to lose body fat is the real question….
When it comes down to it, most people who say they “want to lose weight” really mean, they want to lose body fat.
There are hundreds (if not thousands) of money-spinning ideas, theories and products that are out there to “help you lose body fat” but 90% of these are either total rubbish or will have adverse effects on your body.
If you understand how to lose body fat percentage safely and correctly, you will save a huge amount of time and frustration when you decide you are going to start your lose-body-fat venture.
How to Lose Body Fat: Important Points
You need to understand these important points when it comes to losing body fat! You can’t target where on your body you burn fat off. I think this is becoming more and more obvious, understood and accepted, yet I still see YouTube videos and blog posts from “fitness gurus” promoting the idea that you can target fat loss from certain areas of your body.
The amount of body fat that you have on your body is a percentage. This is the way your body sees the fat that you have. Imagine that you have a glass of water and you want to drink the bottom half of the water from the glass but leave the top part where it is. That’s not going to happen because the water level in the glass will drop as you empty it.
If you want to get rid of the water from the bottom of the glass, you must drink the full glass of water. The water at the bottom of the glass is always the last to go…
Now this metaphor is pretty similar to fat loss in the human body. The water at the bottom is always the last to go from the glass and it is nearly always the fat at the “bottom” of the person that is the last to go too!
How to Lose Body Fat and the Attitude You Should Adopt
It will really help in your fat loss efforts if you can grasp the body fat percentage idea above. When you start to lose body fat, it will probably not start to melt away from the areas in your body that hold the most fat.
The areas that are normally last to go are fat deposits around the belly for men and the hips and bum for women. This is due to the genetic make-up of different genders. It is very important to understand that the areas on your body that hold the most fat will be the last places that you will see an improvement with your fat loss efforts.
Always keep that in mind when you are striving for fat loss and you start a new fat loss routine. Remember that the longer you stay consistent with your efforts, the better the results that you will get.
Where Do I Start With Fat Loss?
The first thing that you should do is to get a solid plan that focuses on your long term results. Whatever advice you choose to follow, you should make sure it is a sustainable plan that you can maintain consistently for years to come. It is a lifestyle that you are choosing, not just the next few weeks or months to come. Who wants to put themselves through a lot of hardship and stress only to witness temporary results?
Consider, Carefully Plan: YOUR DIET
Make sure that you cut down (or cut out) refined sugar from your diet. A common misconception is that only fatty foods make you fat. But refined sugar is a bigger cause of obesity than saturated fat alone.
You will find refined sugar in many different processed foods, so always read food labels and try to educate yourself on this topic.
Make sure that you are not overeating when it comes to calorie intake. Calories are not all bad! The fact is that your body needs a certain amount of calories to function and grow lean tissue, but it is easy to eat the wrong kind of calories; so make sure that the calories that you choose to put into your body are from a good food source that your body can actually use.
Consider, Carefully Plan: EXERCISE
It is possible to lose a whole lot of body fat by having the correct diet but if you do not challenge your muscles and try to develop each muscle group, you run the risk of ending up with a soft and awkward body shape.
This may sound shallow but I know if I were to offer someone (who was overweight and out of shape) a choice between a body that has no muscle tone but is on target for the perfect BMI, or a body that is on target with a perfect BMI and also with a toned lean look, I think I know which would get the most takers.
Also if you have a solid exercise routine to go with your sustainable fat loss diet, you will reach your fat loss goals a whole lot quicker! This is because your body will be using the calories that you give it from your diet to increase your metabolism, burn the fat and to build muscle tone.
In short, with a healthy diet and solid exercise plan in place, your body will become more efficient at all its functions, including its fat burning processes.
This is the basic formula for how to lose body fat. It is simple but effective. All too often, people will over-complicate the process or be sold on an idea that sounds great but is temporary at best.
Self-education, consistency over time, and the right mind-set will beat any gimmick or fad hands down!
I hope that this article has helped you in some way and I wish you the best of luck with your fat loss efforts!
