Wheelchair fitness? If you are a wheelchair user looking for fitness ideas…

Late in 2013, I was asked about wheelchair fitness and fitness for wheel chair users by a lady who was into training in this way and has been paraplegic her whole life.

As I looked further into the wheelchair fitness community, I found that there are many guys and girls looking to lose a bit of weight, start to get fit or just looking to improve mobility.

I know from personal experience that there are many fitness instructors & personal trainers who would think twice (or not take on at all) about someone with a spinal injury or limited use of their lower extremities.

This may be down to insurance reasons or lack of confidence, I am not sure. But my philosophy is that if you can learn to understand your own body and work safely within the confines of your body’s limits, you can get your fitness results — whatever they may be.

Instead of writing out a simple wheelchair fitness article and sharing my ideas on getting fit from a seated position (like I always do), I got carried away. There were too many areas that I wanted to cover. So, I decided to write a short eBook. This eBook is now available in the Kindle store on Amazon.

I decided to put together a full guide that can be used by both beginners and advanced trainers alike. Although this guide has several complete exercise regimes set out, part of my aim was to spark creativity within the reader so that he / she will never again be short of exercise routines or run out of ideas. If you are a wheelchair user and want to hit your fitness goals, you can read more about this book by clicking here.

“James Atkinson continues his mission to provide advice and training for health and fitness in both nutrition and exercise with this very well written guide that addresses the special needs and concerns and limitations and goals of those who are looking for wheelchair fitness.
“As a reminder, if this is the first of Jim’s books you have purchased, James Atkinson is a qualified fitness coach, competing bodybuilder and has served in the British army with the 9 Parachute Squadron Royal Engineers, his focus being on making physical fitness and nutritional support personalized, having been at both ends of the fitness scale and excelled in endurance, long distance running and now bodybuilding. You’re in fine hands with a caring and very compassionate trainer. Highly Recommended.”

“This is a wonderful instructional book for anyone with a paralysis or may have limited to no use of their legs. It was written by a personal trainer who has a great grasp of health, nutrition and exercise.
He really opened my eyes to some new exercises that I can add to my daily routine.
I would recommend this book to anyone with limited mobility that is looking for a great workout!”
